New Chair at ART

Sir Adrian Cadbury, Chair of ART since its inception in 1997 has retired from office and handed over to Lowry Maclean Chairman of the Wesleyan Assurance Society, the financially strong Birmingham-based Mutual. September 2004

Speaking at ART’s AGM about his new role Lowry said: “It is an honour to be asked to lead the Board in developing ART and expanding on the impressive achievements of the past seven years.  Our aim will be to achieve further growth by developing ART’s remarkable record for social inclusion.  We want to be even more inclusive, both in raising funds and lending money for good purposes.”

Summing up at the AGM, Sir Adrian said: “We have inevitably had our ups and downs, but there has been no doubt about the remarkable progress which ART has made from being an inspiration to becoming an institution.  Above all else, ART has shown there is a need for this form of finance.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my involvement with ART and found it immensely worthwhile.  I hand over the Chairmanship with certain confidence in ART’s future progress – progress to which I will continue to give every support.”

Sir Adrian will now take on the role of Honorary President.
